A near constant feature of my Mexican beach art is, you guessed it, colorful boats. There’s just something about those little boats that captured my attention. And it’s been that way every since I took a tour in one on Mexico’s gulf coast. If it weren’t for the bright colors, these simple boats would be so unassuming. Viva bright colors!
Granted in this case, that incredible beach that surrounds those colorful boats doesn’t hurt! Beautiful sand and water… And just look at those fantastic skies! Playa del Carmen certainly was ready to illustrate just exactly why people flock to this stretch of the Caribbean. Gorgeous beaches and a great tropical vibe… what’s not to love?
But this beach print is one of those images that is very much the sum of its parts. It’s more than colorful boats and an amazing landscape. I love the story it tells. Look at all the people in the distance packing up. The sun is setting behind the beach. It reminds me of so many days spent on the beach and the inevitable end – which is always a sort of bittersweet feeling. There’s just something about looking at all of those people packing up a the end of a beautiful day that takes me back to so many memories of beaches past… Family vacations, days with friends… Le Sigh!
What is your favorite aspect of this beach print? The Caribbean flavor? Those amazing skies? The colorful boats? Does it remind your of happy days at the beach or? Maybe it’s simply down to having visited the same beach? Whatever the case, I hope you will take a moment to share with me what calls to you when you look at this scene from the beautiful sands of Playa del Carmen!
