Description

This colorful Savannah River Street print captures a relaxing day in Savannah, Georgia. It’s based off photos and memories of my own visit to Savannah on the Georgia coast. I ended up spending more of my time out on Tybee Island, but River Street and the riverfront was a favorite place. I loved all those weathered buildings. There was something about the charming vibe there that reminded me of New Orleans. Probably much the same old world charm from the long histories of both cities.

There’s something about old streetcars that really strikes my fancy. And the streetcar that runs along Savannah River Street is an authentic streetcar. It’s not originally a Savannah streetcar. Unfortunately all of those were junked long ago in the rush to embrace cars in the middle of the 20th century. “Dottie” as Savananah’s lone streetcar is known was originally from Australia and was brought over and restored. She runs along the old rails on historic River Street much to the delight of Savannah, Georiga, residents and tourists alike. I’ve heard there are hopes to extend the streetcar network in the future and they certainly add to the already charming quality of Savannah, don’t you agree?

As a whole, it’s a beautiful city no matter where you choose to spend your time, but I’ve read more than one person say that Savannah River street is the heart of Savannah. Certainly on a nice day, you’ll find the sidewalks bustling with people and the streetcar clanging along. Seen here it’s just outside of the River Street Sweets candy store.

I hope you’ll stop to pause and share what brought you to this Savannah River Street print? Are you looking to buy a memento to remind you of your visit to Savannah, Ga?
