The Birmingham Skyline art printed on this Colorful Alabama canvas print was designed to be a more than a simple nod to the gleaming skyscrapers. Those buildings are just part of the story of Birmingham. This is an artistic depiction of the skyline that is populated with both skyscrapers and local landmarks. It’s art that speaks to the soul of Birmingham.
First you’ll spot the Sloss Furnaces on the far left in this Birmingham Skyline art. I included these historic blast furnaces as they are an integral part of Birmingham’s history. Alabama’s largest city rose to prominence as an industrial powerhouse soon after its founding in the 19th century. The Sloss Furnaces may have cooled but they still stand as an historic landmark today.
Interspersed within the rest of the Birmingham Skyline is the famous Vulcan Statue and the Alabama Theatre Marquee. These are nods not just to the history of the city but its rich culture. As Vulcan suggests, Birmingham still has an industrial heart even today. The steel industry remains part of the local economy even as the Banking industry has grown in importance. The silhouettes of those skyscrapers old and new speak to that future of the city.
There’s a real element of whimsy in this Birmingham Skyline canvas print. There are lots of ways to read the colorful splashes of color and I’ll leave the interpretation to the viewer. Principally though, I will say I wanted this to feel fun. It was fun making it and I feel a real lighthearted sensation when I look at this Alabama art. And it provides a colorful addition to any decor, don’t you think?
In fact, I think it’s the colorful aspect of this Birmingham Alabama canvas print that has made it one of my more popular items. No doubt it’s also because it speaks to people who either live in Birmingham or have history there.

After the purchase of your canvas print, it is made to your order. The artwork is printed on an acid-free poly/cotton blend canvas. The use of archival inks and substrate means that your canvas art print should last a lifetime without fading or loss of color.
When ordering your print, you have a choice between glossy and matte finishes. While I ordinarily love matte finishes on prints, I do like the sheen that comes on glossy canvas prints. Ultimately I would suggest letting the amount of light in your space guide your choice. In a brightly lit environment, I would lean towards a matte finish to reduce the chance of glare.
There are three wrap styles to choose from for canvas prints. The mirrored wrap choice mirrors and extends the image to the sides of the canvas wrap (without losing any of the original artwork on the front). The majority of the time I would suggest this is the best choice. The other two options are a solid black wrap or white wrap. You can see a preview of each option when selecting wrap color.
After printing, the canvas is stretched over and secured to a wooden frame of 1.5″ by 1.5″ stretcher bars. The entire production process takes from 5 to 7 business days. Your artwork will arrive in sturdy packaging. The hanging wire will be attached and all hardware necessary to hang your canvas print will be included. Canvas prints are a great ready-to-hang option.
