About This Image

Ideal Georgia Depot – Macon County Metal Print by Mark Tisdale.

This Macon County metal print features the historic Ideal Georgia depot. This railroad depot was built circa 1906 as the Atlanta Birmingham & Atlantic Railroad Depot. The depot is actually integral to the mythos of Ideal. So the story goes, the community here was originally called “Joe Town” after one of the leading residents of this little railroad village. But when the depot was opened one of the visiting railroad executives referred to the community as an “ideal” location and the name took on a life of its own. Ideal was incorporated in 1907.

I chose to depict the depot as an Ideal version of itself. Being lucky enough to come across a 1980’s photo of the depot, I saw that it originally had a tile roof that has since been replaced with asphalt shingles. But there was a real charm to the old style roof with that victorian tower that I found so appealing.

The Ideal Georgia Depot is now used as a community center . Like most old passenger/freight depots in small towns across the country, it fell out of use but is still a source of local pride. So many have been allowed to fall into ruin so it’s wonderful to see one that is well-loved like this one, don’t you agree?

I hope you’ll share your thoughts about the Ideal depot and my depiction of it. What attracts you to the artwork on this Macon County metal print?

Metal Prints – Product Information

Metal prints are a contemporary and stylish choice that will arrive at your door ready to hang.

The artwork is printed on a 1/16″ thick sheet of aluminum that is then mounted on a 3/4″ thick wooden frame. The wooden frame is recessed from the edge of the print giving the appearance of a thin high-gloss metal print that appears to be offset from your wall.

Each metal print is made to your order and printed using archival quality materials that should last a lifetime. Metal prints take 5 to 7 business days to produce and are shipped directly to you in sturdy packaging.

The only decision you will have to make when ordering your metal print is how large you would like it to be.

If you encounter difficulty accessing the on-site purchase button at the top of the page, please use this button to shop directly from Pixels/Fine Art America, the vendor who handles fulfillment for these products. And please notify me!

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
