Art for Gay Sci-Fi Fans – Unique Gay Geek Gifts with a Quote
This fun art design was one I did with gay sci-fi fans in mind and that’s because I specifically fall into that category. In fact, I was a sci-fi fan from my earliest memories. I don’t even know when I started but I have photos from Christmas when I was six years old that is littered with Star Trek toys. And that was two years before the first movie came out!
This was also the general time period when I was a big fan of Lost In Space, the original 60’s TV show that was in regular re-runs when I was little. At the time of course, I don’t think I really noticed that there was basically no representation for gay characters in mainstream sci-fi or media in general. At best a queer coded character or two. A story that would hold true for many years to come.
But my geeky long time love of science fiction as well as my being part of the gay community is what lead to this gay sci-fi fans design and the “quote” at the top of it. I wanted to create something that was a little cheeky but declared both my personal love of the sci-fi genre as well as the simple wish to see my world represented in those forward-looking fictional worlds I have enjoyed all my life.
I thought the spaceship viewport visual helped convey the feeling this is an outer space scene best. It keeps the focus on the men who are kissing while also letting us know they are futuristic explorers of some description. But mostly the story is up to the viewer. What do you think their story is? Swashbuckling? Heroic? Scientific explorers seeking out new wonders of the galaxy as a couple? I suspect many of us gay sci-fi fans will each have our very own version of the story that speaks to the shows, books and movies that we love best.
The quote is original but I think will speak to lots of gay sci-fi fans and it makes for a cool declaration whether this is a print hanging in your dorm room, gaming room, or whatever space is filled with your nerdy interests. I particularly think this will make a fun geek gay gift! There’s something so neat about gifts from friends and loved ones who really get the things we love.
Wall Art For Geeky Gay Sci-Fi Fans
You can find this design on a wide variety of framed wall art options as well as variety of home decor items and other fun accessories from my primary printing partner.
I also offer unframed prints to shoppers in the US through my Etsy store.
I offer this design in two formats through my Threadless shop. Threadless has some cross-over wall-art and accessory items that are available on my primary printing partner. Depending on the size you are looking for and where you are located in the world, you might find a better deal or shipping option with either platform. As such, I recommend comparing both to see what works best for you individually.
Both products use the same design for wall-art and other products but as the t-shirts above demonstrate, one version the apparel options comes with the full design while the other option is just the essential elements. Which do you prefer? I couldn’t decide and that’s why I’m offering both.
Threadless and Pixels both have a lot of different options featuring this design that gives geeky gay sci-fi fans a lot of choices. Plus they make great gifts. In particular I think the printed tapestry with grommets from Threadless would be a great choice for easily decorating dorm rooms in case you are searching for the perfect gifts for the gay college geek in your life. And while I don’t have this one on a blanket myself (yet), I ordered my designs printed on blankets before and they are so pretty and warm. In fact, I gave one to my Mom who is in a nursing home and it has been through industrial washers for over a year and looks exactly the same as when she received it. I’m honestly surprised at how durable it’s been.

Zazzle’s design tool will allow you to add your own text or other elements, which means you could personalize it for special occasions. Closing Thoughts
I’d love to hear what you think of this design for Gay Sci-Fi Fans? As I mentioned earlier, it was a work of love so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. But I’d also love to hear if there any other crossover type products you’d appreciate seeing. Other genres that intersect with your identity as a gay man that are not well represented but you’d love a poster, print, or other accessory that shows off your fandom?
