Swimming Cat – Surreal Art Print by Mark Tisdale.

This surreal swimming cat art was inspired by observing cats, both my own as well as those of others. I’ve had cats all my life having grown up around them with a mother who came from a family that liked cats and a father who grudgingly learned to love them in his own way. As any cat lover will tell you, cats are characterful little creatures with all their own charms and quirks. It’s hard to lose them but hard to imagine life without them.

I’ve seen my own cats lie with their bellies flat on the floor and their back feet behind them in a most frog-like fashion. Not every cat does this but I’ve had several over the years. How about you? The subject of this swimming cat art print, however belongs to a friend. When she shared a photo on Facebook of him lying in this pose, it not only reminded me of some of my own cats over the years, it sparked the inspiration for this artwork. Because it hit me that her cat looked as if he might be swimming. I had a lot of fun creating this. And I feel like the result is quite fun. The sight of this cat paddling through the water with the fish just brings a big smile to my face. Is he fishing or is he practicing his swimming technique with the masters of that particular activity? I’ll leave that to you to decide!
