Auburn University – Samford Hall Art Print by Mark Tisdale

If you ever went to Auburn University, there’s little doubt you’ll recognize this Samford Hall art print.

One of the highlights of my 20’s was the two years I spent in grad school at Auburn University, and I’ll never forget the first time I drove through Auburn. It was a summer afternoon and as I came down College Street, I saw Samford Hall looming ahead of me for the first time. Even if I hadn’t attended Auburn University, I would be impressed by the beauty of that gorgeous old building. But thanks to my time there, I instantly associate this building with my memories of Auburn, the friends I made there, and that time of my life. And that feeling of sweet nostalgia was unquestionably the feeling I was trying to capture in this Auburn artwork.

Samford Hall, built in 1888, is a neoclassical design – more specifically the Romanesque revival style. It was constructed following the fire of the previous “old main” building. For years it was known simply as the “Main” building but in 1929, it was named in honor of William J Samford. Samford Hall originally housed classrooms and the library. As the campus has grown greatly since the 19th century, today this classic structure is the main administration building for Auburn University. And I can’t imagine a building more iconic on campus. The stadium would be the only thing that could come close.

When I see the old clock tower of Samford Hall reaching into the Alabama skies in this Samford Hall art print, I’m instantly taken back to my memories of Auburn. How about you? Do you have fond memories of your own years at Auburn? Or maybe you are shopping for a gift for a loved one who went there? Perhaps you have a son or daughter who is there now or graduating soon? I would love to hear what your connection is with Auburn and what attracts you to this Auburn University artwork?

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
