1972 Camaro – Classic Car 5×7 Greeting Card by Mark Tisdale

The subject of this classic car greeting card is a blue 1972 Camaro with white racing stripes. This Chevy artwork was the result of a fun request I had for this particular subject. I don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of classic cars, so I always love to hear from people what particular makes and models they are interested in.

And while I didn’t have memories of this particular car, this style reminds me very much of the cars that were on the roads in my earliest of memories. There was something very fun about capturing those early 1970s design details in a 1972 Chevy Camaro with the split bumper. The split bumper was available on a very brief period in Camaro history from 1970-73. I’m not sure if it was entirely down to changing safety laws or if the split bumper design was being phased out anyway, but it seems to have been a blip in Classic Camaro design.

Funny enough there was no request on the color in this classic car print so I went with my gut and choose the colors that I like best which if you look through my prints of cars and trucks is almost invariably some shade of blue. In the case of this classic Camaro, blue with white racing stripes. Of course, when you are showing the city lights reflecting on shiny metal, you get to include a lot of other colors for good measure.

This classic 70’s car print is filled with a sense of motion provided by the streaks of color terminating behind that blue Camaro. It gives a sense or raw, surging speed not to mention a bright and colorful backdrop for a vintage piece of auto history. Because of the vantage point, there’s a sense that the viewer is directly ahead, perhaps in another car. There’s definitely a feeling of a fun night on the streets with friends, a little bit of nostalgia and Americana, don’t you think?

I hope you’ll pause to share what the image on this Camaro greeting card brings to mind for you? Nights with friends long ago or maybe last week if you own one of these classics? Are you looking for a classic car greeting card to send to  someone who loves Camaros?

I do take requests so if you like my style but don’t see the subject you’re looking for, please drop me a note and let me know what it is you’re seeking.
