Atlanta Skyline Print

This view of the Atlanta Skyline from the east side of downtown has always been my personal favorite view of the cityscape. There’s something about that cluster of skyscrapers poking out of the city center that has always felt futuristic to me, like a fabled city on a hill. A good chunk of those buildings are along the main artery of Peachtree Street, a new downtown that blossomed in the second half of the 20th century just north of old downtown. This is hardly the first time I’ve tackled the skyscrapers of Atlanta, but this view of the Atlanta skyline at night in the falling rain is my current favorite of my own work.

The Atlanta skyline in my artwork is featured against a stormy night sky full of deep blues while the skyscrapers themselves are a mix of mostly warm hues. This was in my mind mean to be reminiscent of the lighthouses, beacons in the dark night skies – a welcoming view. There’s something about this view that reminds me of many nights during my years living in Atlanta, coming back to the city at night. I can practically smell the air has when it rains and hear the rhythm of the windshield wipers. There’s just something comforting about it to me that’s hard to explain but I hope this Atlanta skyline painting strikes you the same way?

Whatever the case, I feel this is a unique way to present the Atlanta skyline. There are probably no end of photos of the skyline at night or at sunrise, etc. And I can’t promise I won’t ever tackle a more mundane view of the city, but I’m very proud to offer something just a little bit different!
