This black cat greeting card depicts what I would call a cosmic kitty. The title of this piece is Cattus Ex Machina. That’s a play on the latin phrase Deus Ex Machina which described a plot device in ancient theatre. There’s no real connection beyond that but this cosmic kitty makes me picture a universe where cats are at work behind the scenes. Or maybe our kitty friend is a space/time traveler? Whatever the case, there’s a decidedly celestial theme to this work.
