About This Image

Dublin Ireland Cityscape – Dusk Sky Metal Print by Mark Tisdale.

This dusk sky metal print features a beautiful Dublin Ireland Cityscape. There are, of course, a lot of vistas in the city featuring beautiful architecture or landmark buildings. This one features two, actually. The largest building is the 18th century Custom House. It was built in the Neoclassical style in 1791. Even at night, you may notice that the dome is not the same stone as the rest of the building. That wasn’t a design decision in the 18th century. During the 20th century quest for Irish independence, the building was bombed and the dome fell. When it was rebuilt by the new Irish government, they chose to use local stone rather than matching stone from the UK.

Slightly further down the river in this Dublin cityscape is Liberty Hall. While by comparison considerably newer it was built in the 1960’s. It stands on the site of an earlier Liberty Hall which housed the Irish Transport and General Workers Union. That trade union has since merged with another and Liberty Hall is currently the headquarters for the Services, Industrial, Professional, and Technical Union (SIPTU). Even when I visited more than a decade ago the current building was slated to be demolished and replaced. However SIPTU’s plans for a new building were rejected and it seems to be up in the air what will happen next. In my opinion, the current tower is charming even if not the newest or biggest on Dublin’s skyline today.

This dusk sky metal print is based on photos taken from the south side of the River Liffey on my last night in Dublin some years ago. I love the little details like the reflections in the water, the sense of motion both there and on the quay in front of the Custom House where you see not only buses and cars but the light trails of ones that moved through the scene. There’s a real sense of the movement and motion of the city as night falls.

Metal Prints – Product Information

Metal prints are a contemporary and stylish choice that will arrive at your door ready to hang.

The artwork is printed on a 1/16″ thick sheet of aluminum that is then mounted on a 3/4″ thick wooden frame. The wooden frame is recessed from the edge of the print giving the appearance of a thin high-gloss metal print that appears to be offset from your wall.

Each metal print is made to your order and printed using archival quality materials that should last a lifetime. Metal prints take 5 to 7 business days to produce and are shipped directly to you in sturdy packaging.

The only decision you will have to make when ordering your metal print is how large you would like it to be.
