Ha’penny Bridge on a Winter Day in Dublin – Irish Canvas Print by Mark Tisdale

This Irish canvas print features a view of the beautiful Ha’Penny Bridge on a winter day. Usually I would have researched the sights to see before I ever set down in Dublin, but I had a month in Ireland, so I played it by ear for the most part. I had no agenda, no list of must-see places. Yet it seems somehow the best sights to see bubble to the surface all on their own.

The Ha’penny Bridge seen in this Irish canvas print is one of those magical landmarks that you find on your own. Without knowing any of the history of the bridge, I knew the moment I saw it that it was a special landmark in Dublin. On first viewing, I loved the architecture. Look at all the details in the iron railings and structure and that exquisitely graceful arch leading both people and your eyes over the River Liffey.

It was only after I was home that I started reading up on the history of the Ha’Penny Bridge. I discovered that the bridge was built in 1816, and it was Ireland’s first iron bridge. Its name comes from the toll to cross the bridge. The half penny toll is long gone, but the unofficial name of The Liffey Bridge has stuck.

Despite having had the chance to take multiple photos of the bridge, this Irish canvas print is a personal favorite. First of all, of course, I had wonderful light for a winter day. Just look at the colorful reflections in the river. And I love how the bridge connects the viewer’s eye to Ormond Quay on the opposite bank of the River Liffey, but it’s the curve in the clouds that mirrors the bridge that sells me on this particular print. I would custom order picturesque skies like that if I could!

There’s also one small detail in this print that I appreciate which might not be apparent if you’re not looking at this larger and that’s the bird perched on the nearest bridge lamp. His coloring is so close to the Ha’Penny Bridge color that for a second, you might think he was a bit of subtle ornamentation.

I can attest from customers who have bought this Dublin canvas print in the past that you can simply love the beautiful old world architecture in this one. You don’t necessarily need to have stood on the banks of the Liffey. I’m sure it adds an extra dimension to owning it to have your own memories of the Ha’Penny Bridge. But I’m certainly glad to know this one definitely connects with people who just love a beautiful image.

Canvas Prints – Product Information

Stretched canvas prints are a great choice for decorating your home or office. Canvas art is a classic choice that is at home in traditional and modern decor alike.

After the purchase of your canvas print, it is made to your order. The artwork is printed on an acid-free poly/cotton blend canvas. The use of archival inks and substrate means that your canvas art print should last a lifetime without fading or loss of color.

When ordering your print, you have a choice between glossy and matte finishes. While I ordinarily love matte finishes on prints, I do like the sheen that comes on glossy canvas prints. Ultimately I would suggest letting the amount of light in your space guide your choice. In a brightly lit environment, I would lean towards a matte finish to reduce the chance of glare.

There are three wrap styles to choose from for canvas prints. The mirrored wrap choice mirrors and extends the image to the sides of the canvas wrap (without losing any of the original artwork on the front). The majority of the time I would suggest this is the best choice. The other two options are a solid black wrap or white wrap. You can see a preview of each option when selecting wrap color.

After printing, the canvas is stretched over and secured to a wooden frame of 1.5″ by 1.5″ stretcher bars. The entire production process takes from 5 to 7 business days. Your artwork will arrive in sturdy packaging. The hanging wire will be attached and all hardware necessary to hang your canvas print will be included. Canvas prints are a great ready-to-hang option.
