About This Image
King And Queen Towers – Atlanta Canvas Print by Mark Tisdale
This unique King And Queen Towers canvas print shows one of metro Atlanta’s most recognizable pieces of architecture. The Sandy Springs skyscrapers are actually named Concourse V and VI but everyone in Atlanta seems to know them as The King and Queen Towers. And yes, they were indeed designed to be reminiscent of the King and the Queen pieces in a chess set. This is a photograph that I’m particular proud of because it wasn’t the result of a chance encounter. I spent some months trying to find the perfect angle for these buildings and even then it took yet more time to get the right skies!
At the time I lived and worked in Alpharetta but frequently ventured south on Georgia 400 on the weekends. And I always had my camera just in case. On this particular afternoon, I saw the clouds in the late afternoon sky and I had a feeling that day might finally be the day. I camped out in the area waiting for the golden hour of light as the sun hits the horizon. And, I hope you’ll agree that it was well worth the wait. The late afternoon sun and those clouds came together to form the perfect dramatic backdrop for such a stunning pair of landmark Atlanta skyscrapers.
Even if this King and Queen Towers canvas print had not turned out to be a popular one, I would have been proud of it just for the time it took me to get everything right. The fact it’s also been a popular Atlanta canvas print is simply the icing on the proverbial cake.
I hope you’ll pause to share your thoughts. What attracted you to this particular canvas print? Have you lived or worked in the area? Maybe like me you drove past them for years and they give you a sense of place? If you have thoughts or questions about this or any of my work don’t hesitate to drop me a note.
Canvas Prints – Product Information
Stretched canvas prints are a great choice for decorating your home or office. Canvas art is a classic choice that is at home in traditional and modern decor alike.
After the purchase of your canvas print, it is made to your order. The artwork is printed on an acid-free poly/cotton blend canvas. The use of archival inks and substrate means that your canvas art print should last a lifetime without fading or loss of color.
When ordering your print, you have a choice between glossy and matte finishes. While I ordinarily love matte finishes on prints, I do like the sheen that comes on glossy canvas prints. Ultimately I would suggest letting the amount of light in your space guide your choice. In a brightly lit environment, I would lean towards a matte finish to reduce the chance of glare.
There are three wrap styles to choose from for canvas prints. The mirrored wrap choice mirrors and extends the image to the sides of the canvas wrap (without losing any of the original artwork on the front). The majority of the time I would suggest this is the best choice. The other two options are a solid black wrap or white wrap. You can see a preview of each option when selecting wrap color.
After printing, the canvas is stretched over and secured to a wooden frame of 1.5″ by 1.5″ stretcher bars. The entire production process takes from 5 to 7 business days. Your artwork will arrive in sturdy packaging. The hanging wire will be attached and all hardware necessary to hang your canvas print will be included. Canvas prints are a great ready-to-hang option.
