This London phone box canvas print is a colorful reminder of London featuring both a classic British red telephone box as well as “Big Ben” rising into the night sky. Anyone who follows my work should know that I have something of a phone box obsession. I love them. There’s something about that classic design and the brilliant red that calls to me. I loved them from afar before I ever saw a London phone box in person back in 2004. That trip cemented my fondness for these now anachronistic telephone booths. And it grew from there as I roamed England, Scotland, and Cornwall over the travels to Britain that came afterward.
In my London canvas print, I’ve suspended reality for a moment. The only sign of life is the motion of lights from traffic passing along the street corner. It’s a snippet of time without obvious people which allows one to concentrate on the architecture of London as well as that brilliant Red London phone box and the towering presence of ‘Big Ben’ against a night sky. I’ve never experienced the streets of London devoid of people but it was fun concentrating on the cityscape.
I always like to add the disclaimer that I’m aware Big Ben is the great bell in the clock tower. In recent years the clock tower itself was named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, but ask the average person the world over and they’ll say that’s Big Ben! So this particular Anglophile yields to convention simply so that people searching on the internet may find and enjoy my artwork!

After the purchase of your canvas print, it is made to your order. The artwork is printed on an acid-free poly/cotton blend canvas. The use of archival inks and substrate means that your canvas art print should last a lifetime without fading or loss of color.
When ordering your print, you have a choice between glossy and matte finishes. While I ordinarily love matte finishes on prints, I do like the sheen that comes on glossy canvas prints. Ultimately I would suggest letting the amount of light in your space guide your choice. In a brightly lit environment, I would lean towards a matte finish to reduce the chance of glare.
There are three wrap styles to choose from for canvas prints. The mirrored wrap choice mirrors and extends the image to the sides of the canvas wrap (without losing any of the original artwork on the front). The majority of the time I would suggest this is the best choice. The other two options are a solid black wrap or white wrap. You can see a preview of each option when selecting wrap color.
After printing, the canvas is stretched over and secured to a wooden frame of 1.5″ by 1.5″ stretcher bars. The entire production process takes from 5 to 7 business days. Your artwork will arrive in sturdy packaging. The hanging wire will be attached and all hardware necessary to hang your canvas print will be included. Canvas prints are a great ready-to-hang option.
