The subject of this Georgia art print is an old local business – Montezuma Motors. The building itself is of interest because it’s one of the only Art Deco style buildings in Montezuma. It was originally built as a frozen food plant in the 1920’s.
By the 1950’s that business had expanded and moved. The building became a Ford showroom for most of the rest of the 20th century. It’s been vacant for several years now and when I started working on this local scene, the Montezuma Motors sign was being taken down. I wanted to capture this as I remembered it before it was gone.
