About This Image

Nubble Light – Winter Night Art Print by Mark Tisdale.

This winter night art print features the legendary Nubble Light surrounded by snow. Nubble Light is more appropriately Cape Neddick Light Station. Its construction was completed in 1879. It’s come to be known as Nubble Light because the rocky island where it’s built off Cape Neddick is known as The Nubble. If this feels like the quintessential lighthouse to you, you would not be alone in feeling that. Nubble Light is likely the most photographed lighthouse in the world. Words like quaint definitely come to mind looking at the gingerbread keeper’s house. The enclosed walkway between the house and light was built in 1911 and has an almost organic feel to it as it conforms to the landscape. I bet it was a welcome addition on a cold winter night such as the one pictured here, though!

Aside from the legendary status of this light what caught my attention was the red hue to the light. Very distinctive. Apparently the tower was also originally painted a dark red but has been white since 1902. The red glow is shown here not just in the sky above the island but reflected in the water off Cape Neddick, Maine.

I love lighthouses as a subject so it was a treat tackling such an iconic one. Lighthouses have a majesty regardless of the weather but I really wanted to go for a wintry night scene simply for the novelty of it. I think the result is striking. What captures your attention in this lighthouse art? Does it remind you of a winter visit to Cape Neddick? I hope you’ll share what attracts you to this Nubble Light art print.

How Can I Help?

At the end of the day, it’s important to me that you can put a face with the art you’re considering purchasing through my site. Aside from the print vendor who ultimately prints and ships your order, this is a one man show. The person who made the art is the same one who is typing this message and the one who will answer your questions if you drop me a note.

You are not a number and I care that you are happy with whatever art you might buy here. I’m here if you’d like to ask questions before or after purchasing. And I’m also happy to work with you where possible to customize the work you’re buying. Maybe you’d like a tweak to the shape of a print to fit in with your existing wall art. Or you’d like to add a little nod to someone special in it? Just ask! I also keep a running list of subjects I don’t currently have but people are seeking. So if you enjoy the style of my work but didn’t find quite what you were looking for, please do let me know.

I’ve been an artist for 15 years now and most of that time it’s been my full-time passion. And it matters to both the endorphins in my brain and the food I put on the table for me (and my cats) that you find the experience of purchasing the products offered here to be a pleasure.
