The artwork on this metal print is titled “Together Again” and features the fairly recognizable figures of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. I don’t often do art that connect with current events but there was something about the Queen’s death despite that impacted despite not being British nor having ever seen her. It wasn’t simply down to having Anglophile tendencies, either although that could have been part of it after multiple trips to the UK. But I read a comment online that I think is a big part of it. The Queen’s death was a turning of the proverbial page. She had been this far away fixture in the world, simply always there and she was a reminder that everything changes. I think too there was a small feeling of seeing a grandmotherly figure die kind of brought back other losses. So I wish her a farewell with all of the feelings that brought about!
