About This Image
Split Rock Lighthouse – Fall Color canvas Print by Mark Tisdale.
This fall color canvas print features Split Rock Lighthouse near Silver Bay, Minnesota. This lighthouse on the North Shore of Lake Superior is considered by many to be one of the most picturesque US lighthouses. It was completed in 1910 and was originally named Stoney Point. It seems it was originally going to be located at a site near Split Rock River, and that is probably why the name stuck despite it being built on this 130 foot cliff a mile east of the river.
The location of Split Rock Lighthouse is indeed picturesque and enchanting. There’s something of a fairy tale nature to the location, don’t you think? I have expect a tall ship or swashbucklers to appear a any moment. Part of my reason for doing this lighthouse art with colorful fall foliage was simply down to the current time of the year. But I also though that the foliage gripping that high cliff would be gorgeous in autumn hues of warm gold. It’s definitely eye catching, don’t you agree?
Split Rock lighthouse is definitely a subject I can see re-visiting in the future. Its location is definitely what I would consider a picturesque landscape. I know the lighthouse served a utilitarian purpose when it was built but for us future generations, it makes for gorgeous and artistically inspiring scenery. Perched above the rocks and the fall foliage, it definitely serves as a beacon in many senses of the word.
What are your thoughts? What caught your eye in this particular lighthouse canvas print?
Canvas Prints – Product Information
Stretched canvas prints are a great choice for decorating your home or office. Canvas art is a classic choice that is at home in traditional and modern decor alike.
After the purchase of your canvas print, it is made to your order. The artwork is printed on an acid-free poly/cotton blend canvas. The use of archival inks and substrate means that your canvas art print should last a lifetime without fading or loss of color.
When ordering your print, you have a choice between glossy and matte finishes. While I ordinarily love matte finishes on prints, I do like the sheen that comes on glossy canvas prints. Ultimately I would suggest letting the amount of light in your space guide your choice. In a brightly lit environment, I would lean towards a matte finish to reduce the chance of glare.
There are three wrap styles to choose from for canvas prints. The mirrored wrap choice mirrors and extends the image to the sides of the canvas wrap (without losing any of the original artwork on the front). The majority of the time I would suggest this is the best choice. The other two options are a solid black wrap or white wrap. You can see a preview of each option when selecting wrap color.
After printing, the canvas is stretched over and secured to a wooden frame of 1.5″ by 1.5″ stretcher bars. The entire production process takes from 5 to 7 business days. Your artwork will arrive in sturdy packaging. The hanging wire will be attached and all hardware necessary to hang your canvas print will be included. Canvas prints are a great ready-to-hang option.
