Surfer Heading Out at Newquay – Cornwall Art Print

I’ve said before that every since I first saw surfers in Northern California that I consider it to be a very zen sport. At least I find it very zen to watch! I can truly get lost in the moment when I see a surfer out on the waves. I think it has something to do with surfing being a sport that so intimately involves a force of nature.

When I planned to go to Cornwall on my last trip to the UK, it was really just because I had heard how beautiful it was there. And I was not disappointed on that point! But when I discovered that Newquay was something of a surfing town, I was even more excited to see the Cornish coast! The chance to see surfers in action was high on the list.

As it would turn out, the waves during my stay were not spectacular, but it didn’t stop the surfers from heading into the waters with regularity. If I wasn’t down on the beach already, I could see them heading out from my window overlooking Towan Beach in Newquay. On my last afternoon, when I saw the surfers heading out from my window, I knew I was heading down to the beach for the last time and had high hopes for some special images. The waves may not have been crashing, but the sunlight was extra golden and special. The result is an especially dreamy art print of this surfer heading out into the waters with his surfboard.

I was as sorry for the surfers as I was for me that the waves weren’t in full force that afternoon. But for me, the golden light on Towan beach that afternoon made up for it. This surfer print has a real sense of peace and a dreamy quality in that golden light that I find almost indescribable… Do you feel it too? I definitely think this surfer print has an iconic feel to it, as if it captures the zen-state of heading out to be one with the sea.
