There’s certainly no question that this Atlanta canvas print featuring The Varsity depicts a true Atlanta landmark. Years ago when I was first developing a passion for photography and visual art in general I set about working on a collection of images that I referred to with the rather ambitious series title, Atlanta Icons. There was little question in my mind that the large V of The Varsity sign should be included. Although I had visited the restaurant very soon after I moved to Atlanta, it’s a ridiculously hard to miss landmark if you’re visiting Atlanta or just trying to navigate through the city on your daily commute! You literally can’t miss it if you take the connector through downtown.
As a matter of fact, this Atlanta landmark print of the Varsity was partially responsible for giving me the motivation to make it as a visual artist. I submitted this print in the My Atlanta photography show in Piedmont Park in 2006. And I was ecstatic when it got the award for best use of color in the show. That was one of my first awards. I think it may have actually been the first.
This Atlanta print has been popular in the years that have passed, especially with Georgia Tech alumni. After all even though it has grown into a chain, the original Varsity is very much associated with the history of Georgia Tech students. But even those of us with no ties to Tech have a soft spot for traditions. And The Varsity at 90 years is certainly a local tradition. I have had countless Atlantans share fond memories of The Varsity – particularly of family they went there with.

Stretched canvas prints are a great choice for decorating your home or office. Canvas art is a classic choice that is at home in traditional and modern decor alike.
After the purchase of your canvas print, it is made to your order. The artwork is printed on an acid-free poly/cotton blend canvas. The use of archival inks and substrate means that your canvas art print should last a lifetime without fading or loss of color.
When ordering your print, you have a choice between glossy and matte finishes. While I ordinarily love matte finishes on prints, I do like the sheen that comes on glossy canvas prints. Ultimately I would suggest letting the amount of light in your space guide your choice. In a brightly lit environment, I would lean towards a matte finish to reduce the chance of glare.
There are three wrap styles to choose from for canvas prints. The mirrored wrap choice mirrors and extends the image to the sides of the canvas wrap (without losing any of the original artwork on the front). The majority of the time I would suggest this is the best choice. The other two options are a solid black wrap or white wrap. You can see a preview of each option when selecting wrap color.
After printing, the canvas is stretched over and secured to a wooden frame of 1.5″ by 1.5″ stretcher bars. The entire production process takes from 5 to 7 business days. Your artwork will arrive in sturdy packaging. The hanging wire will be attached and all hardware necessary to hang your canvas print will be included. Canvas prints are a great ready-to-hang option.
