My brief visit to Savannah, Georgia, just didn’t leave me enough time to really examine its fabled squares and all that old Savannah architecture. It’s definitely on my agenda to return, though.
Amongst my few walks in the city was a stroll down beautiful East River Street to see the Savannah River and I have to admit to being quite taken by these cobbled streets. The textures really have an almost old world feel, don’t you think?
And of course the whole right side of the scene is filled with Savannah architecture, beautiful old buildings that I believe I remember hearing were all part of the old cotton trade, former warehouses and the like. Now of course, they are occupied by shops and restaurants and, as you can see, filled with people enjoying a great day in Savannah.
I wanted the people to bring life to the scene, but an added bonus was a small flock of birds crossing the sky just as I prepared to take this photo. That little bit of serendipity made this particular street scene from Savannah a keeper for me.
