Europe Prints
When I was quite little, an Uncle and Aunt spent the summer in Europe. Even though I was too little to really have a solid concept of places I had never seen with my own eyes, it made an impression. For years after watching those slideshows and hearing the tales of their European adventure, I dreamed of going one day, myself, as so many of us do.
For years, I anticipated those sorts of trips were a faraway dream. I did not do a summer abroad as many do. When I was in college, it seemed out of reach. In a way, I wish I had tried harder to wrangle a youthful summer seeing the beautiful sights in Europe, but perhaps I would not have appreciated it nearly so much as I did a few years down the road?
My first trip abroad anywhere was the UK, and I fell in love with the old-world culture there. And I was quickly making up for lost time, visiting London and Edinburgh on multiple occasions and eventually hitting mainland Europe in Italy. On my last trip across the sea, I managed to add the vibrant landscapes of Ireland and the incredibly picturesque streets of Paris to the list of European places I’ve been. The funny part is with each new place I have been, it never seems to diminish the list of places I want to see! Each of my adventures in Europe have simply made me want to revisit those previous places as well as add more to the list!
So, clearly I am quite enamored with European culture and the rich history of the cities and countries there. I no longer have any illusion that I will ever cross off every European destination. There are just too many places I want to re-visit, some of which have begun to feel like second homes to me. And there seems to be no end to picturesque European Cities, don’t you know?
Over the years, my Europe prints have been popular with buyers all over. Those early prints of the UK were the ones that, for instance, encouraged me to get serious about my interest in marking art. It is a huge compliment to any artist when you decorate your walls with our work. But I have to admit there is always just a little extra bit of pride when I see my Europe prints going back home, being purchased by locals to the places where I visited. You really know you have captured the essence of a place when people who call the place home connect with your artwork!
