If not, I hope it whets your appetite. Newgrange is simply amazing. There’s no other way to describe it in my mind. Standing there, you can only wish you could peek into the minds of the ancient people who built this monument.

Newgrange is truly ancient when you consider that it was already several hundred years old when the earliest of the Egyptian pyramids was built. Newgrange is astronomically aligned with the winter solstice such that sun floods the deepest part of the passage tomb once a year. My visit to Newgrange was a bit late for that but only by a few weeks/ Notice how the winter sun is still hitting the tomb in a similar fashion.

But what most attracted me to this particular vantage point was the long shadows reaching across the ground towards the Newgrange Passage tomb. It spoke to me of the mysteries and wonder of the place and its long existence.
