My first visit to the Georgia coast, I had expected to spend most of my short time there in historic Savannah, but this picture of a Tybee Island Sunset is far more indicative of my first visit to the area. I’m sure anyone who has spent on Tybee Island understands how I became anchored on that beautiful landscape.
As my last day on the coast came to a close, it should be no surprise that I found myself on the beach to take in that last Tybee Island sunset before I left. And what an unforgettable sunset it was. The skies were thick with clouds, but somehow just before the last rays of the sun were gone, they broke through illuminating the ocean and the beach in a truly spectacular fashion!
This wide angle picture of that last amazing Tybee Island sunset was taken from the pier high above the water. I found this to be a great location to really capture both that beautiful sky and the power behind those waves coming in off the Atlantic ocean. I’ve said before and will again that I love a sky filled with clouds far more than a clear sky and I think this one illustrates why. There’s so much detail to those clouds, and they are also putting on a real display of color with blues and pinks and yellow from the setting sun.
It’s almost a natural and very colorful watercolor painting. I love it when I’m present to capture a moment like this one and I know from conversations with others who have seen this print that it really speaks to them of their visits to Tybee.
