Description

The Edward L Lowder Red Barn on the campus at Auburn University was another Auburn art print I did by request. The barn and old silos are part of an Ag Heritage park administered by the College of Agriculture. The barn also houses a display of antique tools and other heritage farming implements. Additionally, there’s an adjacent pavilion that is used for reunions, wedding receptions and other functions. So there’s a good chance the Lowder Red Barn and the old silos are recognizable to more than just alumni from the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. But the Lowder Red Barn is I suspect of keen interest to Alumni of Auburn’s College of Agriculture.

Despite my time spent at Auburn, I had no direct contact with that classic old red barn. I wish I had though because I love old barns. So, this subject was a real joy to work on. There’s something that speaks to me in old barns and sheds in general and red barns are genuinely classic Americana by anyone’s definition. So I suspect this is a farm scene that may interest those with roots in Auburn’s College of Agriculture as well as the general public who just love colorful farming scenes. And for many of us, regardless of the rose colored glasses, look at this way of life with a sense of nostalgia. There’s something peaceful about an old barn in a field. And timeless, too, of course.

I hope you’ll pause to share your thoughts about the Lowder Red Barn. Do you have special memories you’d like to share of an event there or your time as an Ag major? Or maybe, you just love farm art and would like to share how this particular print makes you feel? Either way, I hope you’ll take a moment to share your thoughts in the comments below. And as always, if you have questions you’d like to ask before or after purchasing a print, please feel free to do so below or send me a message. I’m always happy to answer questions or simply to discuss what’s on your mind.
