Description

Oglethorpe Baptist Church – Macon County Georgia Metal Print by Mark Tisdale.

This Macon County Georgia metal print features the Oglethorpe Baptist Church. Construction of the current building was completed in 1955 but the history of the congregation goes back to the mid 1800’s. The roots of the church are a Baptist church organized in the now lost village of Hamburg in 1847. The city of Oglethorpe itself was founded in 1849 and in 1850 the congregation of Hamburg extended itself to Oglethorpe. So the history of Oglethorpe Baptist and the town itself is long-standing.

The artwork on this Oglethorpe Baptist Church metal print depicts the building on a sunny afternoon. The shadows stretch across the street and the skies are filled with picturesque clouds. The church and grounds around it are bathed in the warm glow of the afternoon sun. The result is a cheerful local landscape.

What caught your attention in this Macon County Georgia metal print? Are you from the area? Maybe you grew up in this church? I Hope you’ll share your thoughts.
