Description

While I was wandering the Dublin streets, I loved capturing street scenes. I loved the feeling of people in motion and the rhythm of life there. I think I spent time capturing these Dublin street scenes because I was in Ireland long enough to take in the highlight. I’d seen the landmarks and the places of interest, and I had moved on to observing and photographing more of the daily life in Dublin. In a sense, perhaps I had moved on from observer in a sense to participant.

The Dublin street scene in this print is at the north end of O’Connell Street where it meets Parnell Square. I really loved the details of the great brick building on the corner of Cavendish Row, but it was really the slice of life on the Dublin streets around it that mattered most to me. In this print I wanted to convey the feeling of the people on the Dublin streets going about their day and their routine in Dublin.

And when I look at this print, I feel I did just that, I captured a little piece of Dublin, as a living breathing place full of people and cars and the hum of life. I love that I’ve captured both the beautiful architecture of Dublin’s old Georgian north side as well as the people who inhabit that world.

Have you also wandered the Dublin streets? Or do you simply enjoy the feeling of life and motion in this art print of a little corner of Dublin whether you’ve been or not? In my case, of course, I’ve been. And there’s a piece of me that feels oddly homesick when I look at this print. One wouldn’t think that kind of attachment could form in such a relatively short time, but Dublin streets have a hold over me I guess!
