Rome & Southern Italy Art

Italy is a dream trip for many and for me, it was no different. It was the ancient Roman ruins of Rome and Pompeii that had long called to me the loudest. For years, I had dreamed of standing in the Roman Colosseum. I had imagined walking the streets of Pompeii and gazing at the domed roof of the great Pantheon. And, of course, I did those things and it was, as these Italy art prints must suggest, amazing.

I also saw that there is so much more to Italy than its Roman heritage, from the amazing landscapes along the Italian coast and on Capri to the beautiful Renaissance and Baroque architecture of Rome. Italy is simply a feast for the senses. By the time my two short weeks in Rome and Sorrento ended, the last thing I wanted to do was leave Italy!

It has long been a dream of mine to return to Italy. I long to re-trace my steps in Rome and the Vatican, and to see Sorrento and Capri again and journey further down the coast. And of course, as we all know, there is so much more to Italy to see. I could spend months there so easily without a doubt. And I hope the opportunity presents itself some day.

Until then, I look back on these Italy art prints and I think they have taken on the dreamy aspect of that long ago trip. My artwork of the places I saw in Italy feel like the fragments of a daydream. That’s the inherent beauty of Italy and La Dolce Vita – the sweet life. And it is, no doubt, the reason Italy calls to so many of us. It’s an amazing place for any armchair historian or true classicist, but when you take in the Italian culture to boot, the experience of seeing Italy is so much more.

The dreamy aspect of my Italy wall art seem to speak to a cross-section of people, those who dream of going and those who dream of going back. And for those past patrons of my Italian prints, thank you for dreaming with me! And to the future ones, thanks for the encouragement to return all that sooner to the shores of Italy.
